About the Job

The Athletic department at Thiel College seeks a qualified individual for a full-time, 10-month cheerleading and dance coach. Duties will include, but not limited to, cheerleader & dance squad recruitment and retention, selection and performance, organizing and planning of practice sessions, budget, travel plans, attendance at all home football, and men’s & women’s basketball contests. The head coach will provide guidance to student-athletes and maintain positive interactions with student-athletes and other department coaches and staff, college colleagues and benefactors.



  • Responsible for organizing and overseeing all aspects of dance and cheer teams.

  • Coordinate and conduct cheerleading recruitment and scheduled tryouts for the Thiel College cheer & dance squad.

  • Schedule and conduct preseason training/competition preparation by offering 2-3 weekly practice sessions for squad to include functional, endurance and skill-based training.

  • Schedule competition, coordinate travel, and manage budget.

  • Monitor and foster academic progress of student-athletes.

  • Coordinate team involvement with community outreach or service projects.

  • Build community support for the program through outreach and partnerships

  • Collaborate with and support a diverse and inclusive community

  • Schedule and plan fundraisers for local/regional/national competitions and other financial needs for Thiel College cheer & dance squad.

  • Support and adhere to all institutional policies outlined in the employee handbook.

  • Attend all required departmental, college, and conference meetings.

  • Secondary responsibilities will be required based on experience and qualifications.

  • Other responsibilities as delegated or assigned by the Director of Athletics.


  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience as a successful college, high school, academy dance and cheer coach preferred, coaching or athletics administration desired

  • Must be AACCA certified (or able to obtain certification prior to start date)

  • Must be CPR & First Aid Certified (or able to obtain certification prior to start date)

  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
