This Mortgage Loan Officer is a commission only position.
The mortgage loan officer is responsible for originating quality mortgage loans by selling ABNB FCU loan products and services to meet the needs of its membership and participates in related business development activities.
Major Responsibilities: Establishes and maintains client relationships with assigned branches, members, and other professionals working in a complimenting business and who are in a position to refer loan applications to the credit union. Suggested activities may include sales calls, application services, and working referrals. The loan officer is responsible for working with various branch managers, area mangers, and the Director of Retail Sales to develop member and business partner relationships designed to effectively create new business opportunities. For each individual loan that is originated the Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for overall member interaction from application to closing, duties include but are not limited to, taking complete and accurate applications, obtaining all necessary supporting documentation, overseeing the loan process by monitoring loan status and ensuring conformity with terms, assisting in collection of additional documentation, communicating loan status to all interested parties, and obtaining loan documentation after closings, as directed by management. Research and understating of all loan programs that he/she intends to sell and taking responsibility to notify manager of questions or training needs, in regards to credit union programs or the business in general, is required. Attends educational seminars offered by complimenting businesses and agencies in the community. Keeps informed of changing rules and regulations pertaining to the mortgage loan industry and any other affiliates that is deemed necessary. Must maintain professional image and standards, consistent with credit union policies and procedures, in addition to providing professional, courteous, and respectful quality service to both internal and external customers, vendors, and members to ensure the best possible service is given. Handles any problems in relation to the loan files, to include upset members, rejected or suspended files, unusual underwriting conditions, or any matters that the loan processor is unable to handle or deemed critical to the continued success of the process. Quotes terms, conditions, and various lending options to members and/or realtors in addition to preparing members for loan application by informing them of the documents they will need to bring to application. Maintains designated production levels and performs other job related duties as assigned.Requirements
Position Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in house training or apprenticeship program and three to five years of similar or related experience. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary. Must qualify for the National Mortgage Licensing System Registry, and have working knowledge of mortgage products, programs, and processes. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet members and clients at various branch locations are required. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in PC skills, having the ability to learn and use the credit unions equipment and software programs, and become familiar with the credit unions policies and procedures. Physical requirements include the ability to sit/stand for long periods of time and lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
