Jr. Build and Release Engineer

About the Job


The Jr. Build & Release Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and support of build and deployment software solutions in support of the full engineering team.  In this collaborative, engineering role, you will work closely with the application development teams to support code deployment, develop new deployment solutions, automate processes, maintain and enhance source control and configuration management systems, and own, troubleshoot, and resolve escalated technical issues.


  • Assist in the design, configuration and maintenance of automation tools for continuous integration and continuous delivery

  • Support source code repositories, and break/fix maintenance tasks for build/CI and deployment systems

  • Assist engineering in troubleshooting system and software issues in all environments

  • Assist test automation by writing test scripts, maintaining and deploying to test environments

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of templates covering both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with developers, architect, and test teams on necessary automation and tooling

  • Creates and maintains documentation around all build and release processes

  • Write tools/utilities/scripts to simplify or automate day-to-day tasks

  • Computer Science or related degree

  • Minimum two year experience in software development lifecycle 

  • Able to automate processes by authoring scripts, preferably written with PowerShell, SQL, and C#

  • Experience with and willingness to continue to learn build and deployment tools (Visual Studio Team Services)

  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies and tooling

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and drive to be successful; ability to work independently with minimal supervision or assistance

  • Strong interpersonal skills ability to collaborate with a variety of skill sets and teams

  • Effective documentation and demonstration skills

  • Experience in Windows Server and MS SQL Server
